How to Make Your Own Western Wedding Invitations

During a time when everyone is conscious of their budgets, making smart and economical decisions on what we spend our money on is a top priority. If you are planning a wedding, you have no doubt encountered sticker shock. These western wedding invitations may help take some of the stress out of your wedding plans. Using free craft supplies, a few inexpensive ones and your computer, you can create one-of-a-kind western wedding invitations that will give the recipients a sneak peek at your wedding theme. These invitations will be a slight bit bulkier than traditional invitations, but the savings for making your own will offset the extra postage needed.

Prepare your invitation announcement with your Word or Card Shop on your computer. Using your sample invitation as a guide, choose font style, text and formatting to create your invitation copy.

Adjust the size of your copy. You will want a finished cut parchment 4 1/2 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches long. Your copy needs to be no larger than 4 inches wide by 6 inches long.

Print 2 invitation copies per parchment sheet in the panoramic mode. Center, measure and cut the invitation announcement 4 1/2 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches long.

Measure and cut a rectangle from the blue jeans 5 inches wide by 7 inches long.

Find the center top of your cut parchment copy. Measure a 1/2 inch below the top and mark a 1/2 inch on each side of the center. Punch over these marks with the paper punch.

Center the parchment copy over the denim rectangle. Mark the denim through the parchment holes. Set the parchment copy aside. Cut a 1/4-inch slit over each mark on the denim using the craft knife.

Cut an 8 inch length of the leather lacing. Place the parchment over the denim and line up the holes with the slit. Thread one end of the leather lacing through a parchment hole and slit from the front. Thread the same end of the leather lacing through the other denim slit and parchment hole from the back. You will end up with both ends of the lacing on the front of the western Wedding Invitation.

Adjust the ends so that they are even. Insert an end from each side of the lacing through the back of the concho to the front. Tie the leather lacing in a knot on the front of your western wedding invitation.
